Still playing catch up...

Just a brief note to give an update... well, on the lack of updates.

May proved to be quite a busy month leading up to Norval's 175th Anniversary service on June 3. The Service was wonderful, both in terms of the huge numbers of family and friends (including many former members coming from a distance) who came out to celebrate with our congregation, and the power of the service itself. Special thanks to Ian MacPherson, the minister of Norval and Union Churches from 1976 to 1983 who preached a dynamic, insightful and prophetic sermon (something I deeply appreciated as I rarely get to receive a message), David McIntyre who piped us in and out of the service, and Phil Brennan who contributed two moving solos.

After this I was off on study leave and vacation for a couple of weeks. During that time my sister-in-law gave birth to her second child a baby girl who was the subject of a lot of prayers by a lot of people. After a difficult and deeply stressful pregnancy she's healthy and thriving. Truly, thanks be to God.

Then Elaine and I both got strep throat to round out my time off. Apparently we needed some total rest - though we certainly would have preferred to have it another way. At least Nathan avoided getting sick with it, though the poor guy's got a stomach bug today.

Anyhow, I'm back in the saddle and should be caught up on the Bible Study posts from 1 Corinthians soon, and hopefully contributing other reflections throughout the summer.

Grace and Peace
