Bible Study - The Passion of the Messiah: Part 3 (Matthew 27:1-31)

  • Read Matthew 27:1-10. What is the difference between the failure of Judas and the failure of Peter? What might this say about how we should face failure in our own lives and the lives of others?
  • Read Matthew 27:11-25. In his Roman trial before Pilate what is the charge against Jesus? What danger does he present to Rome’s power and authority? Why do you think Pilate questions the decision of the crowd to free Barabbas and crucify Jesus?
  • Read Matthew 27:26-31. Again, what is the charge made against Jesus by the Roman soldiers in this scene? What is significant about the way they treat him?
